Padre Coffee announces first-ever Sydney concept store
Padre Coffee is expanding to Sydney, launching our first-ever NSW concept store in June 2023.
The store, to be located in Paddington’s Five Ways, will be the first of its kind for Sydney’s eastern suburbs – a multi-purpose coffee concept store, including an espresso bar, retail section, offering Padre Coffee’s signature espresso blends and home-brewing equipment, and a dedicated coffee training and education space.
Once operational, Padre Coffee Sydney will also offer educational and interactive events for coffee enthusiasts and casual sippers alike, designed to take drinkers from bean-to-cup for a unique coffee experience.
The store marks Padre Coffee’s first foray into the Sydney coffee market, after growing a cult-like following across its two roasteries and five retail stores in Melbourne and Noosa.
Padre Coffee founder Marinus Jansen said: “Our expansion into Sydney fulfills a long-term plan to extend the Padre Coffee brand, and to bring our approach to coffee and community to NSW.”
Head of Padre Coffee NSW Ben White said: “The launch into the Sydney market is a natural progression of the business. Sydneysiders are well-known for taking their coffee seriously – and so are we. It’s a good fit and we’re excited to continue to grow and share the Padre Coffee vision and brand.”
Padre Coffee was founded in Melbourne in 2008 by Marinus, who was keen to create his own blend for the city’s then-emerging specialty coffee scene.
Fast-forward 15 years, and Padre Coffee has established itself as a go-to specialty coffee brand. Under the watchful eye of its head of coffee Fay Kamanis, Padre Coffee’s blends have garnered a cult-like following, renowned for their full-bodied flavours, and sustainably sourced beans.
The business has also expanded, opening a Noosa roastery and concept store in 2013, along with an online shop and training spaces. Last year, Padre Coffee became part of Seven Miles Coffee Company (7MCC) – a locally owned and run coffee group, focused on bringing Australians a curated line up of exceptional coffee, backed by excellence in training, equipment, and service.
Padre Coffee now has more than 200 cafe, wholesale and retail partners across Australia and overseas, and is set to further expand in NSW in the coming months, providing coffee for popular cafes across the Illawarra, Camden and the South
Ben White said he was hopeful Padre Coffee Sydney would become an intrinsic part of the city’s coffee culture.
“Since Padre Coffee’s inception, its ethos has been simple: to inspire, encourage and support customers, wherever they are on their specialty coffee journey,” he said. “People and connection are at the heart of everything we do, and Padre Coffee are no strangers to opening ourselves up to new communities.”
Padre Coffee Sydney will be located at 241A-241B Glenmore Road, Paddington. The store will have a similar aesthetic to the business’ Melbourne and Noosa locations, while also embracing Five Ways’ rich cafe culture.
